France - Bikes & Pippa

Having had such a good time cycling in France, and since Pips had long had a yen for driving to France, we combined the two and took the bikes with the car and went cycling and camping and exploring and eating and strolling and eating - oh, did I mention eating?

We left the car on our pitch —garage mort— the french call it, paying only a small retainer. Pips had not had the best nights sleep but then it alway's takes a night or two to get comfy in a tent, in the cold, on the hard, hard ground, with only a three-quarter length matress that's only an inch thick. I don't know why.
Deux Chevaux

Deux Chevaux

This fella saw me talking a photo, well it was just such a perfect french image: man with beret driving 2CV. So, I chatted to him as he came out, of course. Much hilarity.
The Venice of the north

The Venice of the north

Is how Bonneval billed itself. Here's Pips leaning next to the ever-present pretty flower display's that were in every french town, this one just in front of the canal that ran around the town. On which you could hire an electric boat, which we meant to do but never quite found the time.
Off we go

Off we go

We'd just gone over the bridge, heading towards Vouvray (one of many and not the THE Vouvray), and had had directions from a hip jogger, who told us this was much the quieter way. He was right - we saw perhaps one other jogger, one cyclist and a couple of cars most of the morning.
