Another recumbent bike epic across France. There seems to be a theme developing, accidentally, but based on European Bike Express' collection points; the last one was B to B (Beaune to Barcelona), this one is A to A.
Having gone down the east of France and over the Massif Central last year this year I thought I'd explore the westerly area a little more. So, this trip went from Auxerre, followed the Canal du Nivernais to Decize, went west towards Chateauroux and Le Blanc then Poiter, followed La Vienne river skirting Angouleme, Limoge and Perigeux to get to La Reole, finally following the Canal Entre Deux Mers to Toulouse and a bit beyond before returning to Agen for the coach journey home.
About 1,500km in all.

This weird site is on the way to the campsite, Les Violettes, near Deyme. A really nice campsite too. With adjustable temperature showers that you could turn on and off, rather than being on a timer button. The owner was very nice and very helpful and there was a restaurant next door, so somewhere good to eat. In fact, very good to eat, with good music too (jazz and old blues).
I got my tent up, having checked the family next to whom I was pitching didn't mind me as a neighbour, and did my chores. I'm so glad my new neighbours didn't mind else I might never have got to know them. The nicest people you could hope to meet: Marie-Annick, Christian, Sodinie and Mattéo. We shared cherries and lots of happy conversations.
In fact they generously invited me to share their evening meal though I said no, since I wasn't that hungry. Then I discovered the restaurant next to the camping and they had moules frites as a special and suddenly I was very hungry.
Then the next day I tagged along to go and visit Toulouse on the bus. I probably wouldn't have thought of it but Marie-Annick had and knew the times of the bus. More than that it turned out she'd virtually memorised the street plan of Toulouse and knew where everything was!
We were all in a happy, holiday mood and even had the bus driver laughing, just as well since, by a happy coincidence, he was also the bus driver on the way back.
Having got a full collection of maps and pamphlets from the tourist office in Place Wilson we separated and went our separate way's, I strolled idly. This is the first square I idly strolled through, I think it's La Place du Capitole.
I just can't leave the river alone it seems, here it is again looking up river towards Pont St-Pierre
