It was a beautiful cool start out of Saint Savin, a quiet road following the Gartemps river. But I was tired and the landscape was more wheatfields and hills, each one of which was quite hard work. Still, it was great being out on such quiet roads, knowing that if you did have cars overtake they'd do so with lots of room to spare.
Heaven on a bike
I'm sorry, this probably gets a bit boring but really, roads like this, with perfect tarmac and no cars, are so nice to ride on. Whilst there are hedgerows to separate fields, which is good for wildlife, there are also lots of roads with no hedges running alongside them, which is very good for recumbent bike riders. Much better views.
Lussac Les Châteaux
I assume there are chateaux here, but I must admit I didn't go alookin', I did like this house though. It has a Chambre d'hote sign on it so perhaps that's what it is. I'm not sure if the flags indicated a fête day or it was in preparation for the 14th July in four day's time.
