Beaune to Barcelona by bike
Since I was enjoying the recumbent so much I decided that cycling to Spain would be a good idea. I didn't have time to cycle all the way from England and so started at Beaune, just south of Dijon, in France. For two reasons: It was just over 1000km so I could do it in two weeks, and European Bike Express could take me and the bike there.

Ascent to the plateau
6.10am The first few km were a steepish ascent up onto a plateau but then after that it was a level or slight descent through a rocky, forested landscape with almost no one around. When I got the camera out to take this photo a crane or stork that had been just in the pool you see flew off and my camera/phone was too slow loading to get it.
Starving
I took this photo at 11.00am and I'm having lunch, I was so hungry but then, when it came to it I could eat very little. This salad was nice but the main course, some sort of turkey and mushrooms in a creamy sauce I just couldn't eat. But I'd not had breakfast so I guess I needed something.
Saint Ambroix
11.53am and maybe this is the river at St Ambroix but I'm not at all sure, it was just a nice stretch of water.
Flat, I love flat
12.06pm I am really starting to appreciate how nice it is to just cruise along easily on the flat. It's starting to get warmer, not just as the day wears on but as I get further south.
