Two day cycle trip to Simonburn
This was a two day trip, firstly to Stamfordham for an overnight in Church House, a beautiful B&B, and then on to Simonburn, just south of Wark in Northumberland. We largely followed the Reivers' Route except for the start where we took a even more traffic-free route to Camperdown via a bridleway from Holy'stone.

Three gates take two
Well the journey down here had been speedy but it was a bit of a climb out. We could have taken the main road that goes from Bellingham through Wark to Chollerford and on but decided, in spite of the hills, to take the quieter way out to avoid most of it.
Up to Ryal
This was payback time for the 68km/hr descent on the way out, we had to climb back up the hill. Neither of us could make it cycling and we ended up having to push.Pips wasn't too happy, the weather had turned nasty and it had already rained a couple of times but we weren't yet as wet as we were going to be later.Oh, and to add insult to injury, I had a small swarm of flies that were buzzing around my head and landing on me and since I was walking I couldn't outpace them. Strangely Pippa had none but didn't see this as worthy of celebration ;-)
Ryal
I'd stopped for a Powerbar, Pips had forged on but then waited for me here.
