Haltwhistle - Rowland, a walk
Although I thought I knew the area quite well I'd never been in this neck of the woods at all. Pippa and I chose one of the first sunny day's of what had been an awful August to do a great circular walk: about 9.5km
with only about 300m of ascent. Oh, and a pub right near the end for food and a pint.
Date of event: 8/29/2007
Waterside
Pips looks positively serene in this shot, taken exactly under the bridge.
The first ascent
Having left the river we headed up towards Kellah, this was the first ascent of the day. In fact it was nice to get to the higher ground, the views were expansive.
Wooded glen
Over a little footbridge, into a small valley with crags on one side, a very pretty spot.
The blue bridge
At the end of the little valley was this little bridge just before the ascent into Kellah. Kellah was a pretty little hamlet, with various people doing their gardens and a huge walnut tree, I think it was, just outside.
